Egypt's Coptic Pope in poor health, official says

By Mohamed Fadel Fahmy, CNN

Coptic Pope Shenouda III, the spiritual leader of Egypt's Coptic Christian community, is in deteriorating health, the head of the Egyptian General Coptic Association said Tuesday.
Shenouda, 88, "suffers from kidney disease and diabetes," said Sherif Doss, but said he was still "functional."
Bishop Basanti of Helwan governorate denied rumors that the pope is in a coma.
"He is well and under good medical care," the bishop insisted, saying that he would give his regular weekly address Wednesday evening.
Egypt's population is roughly 9% Coptic Christian, according to the U.S. State Department.
The Christian minority has been the subject of a number of high-profile attacks in the last several years, including the bombing of a major church in Alexandria last January that left at least 21 people dead.
Doss said he would expect 2 million Coptic Christians out on the streets for Shenouda's funeral when he dies, but predicted there would be no violence.
Shenouda has been in poor health on and off for many years.
"He has been leading the church for 38 years and is a beloved man that is highly respected," Doss said.
The Coptic Orthodox Church is the largest Christian church in the Middle East, according the Coptic Orthodox Church Centre in England.
In addition to millions of followers in Egypt, the church has adherents in Europe, Canada, the United States, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Namibia and South Africa, the center says.
When a Coptic pope dies, all 150 bishops of the church's Holy Council appoint an acting patriarch until a vote is conducted for a successor, Doss said. Thousands of bishops, priests, and monks are eligible to vote.
The most senior bishop usually takes the role of acting patriarch. In this case, that would be Bishop Michael of Asiut. If he declines, Bishop Bakhamious of Behira is next in line, Doss said.

Egypt Unity Democratic Party in Solidarity with Libyan Democratic Party

Egypt Unity Democratic supports and in solidarity with the Libyan Democratic Party for a several reasons:
  • The aim of all political association is the preservation of the natural rights of man. These rights are liberty, property, security, and resistance to oppression.
  • The Democratic Party will apply for membership to The Cooperation Council for the Arab state of the Gulf.
  • The Democratic Party rejects the idea that the state determines the religious life of the individual, for that would conflict with the individual determining his relationship with God (religion). Religion and coercion do not meet. Man cannot serve two masters. Indeed it is a right of the individual to be able to pursue his spiritual advancement unmolested.
  • The free communication of ideas and opinions is one of the most precious of the rights of man. Every citizen may, accordingly, speak, write, and print with freedom, but shall be responsible for such abuses of this freedom as shall be defined by law.
  • No one shall be disquieted on account of his opinions, including his religious views, provided their manifestation does not disturb the public order established by law.
  • No person shall be accused, arrested, or imprisoned except in the cases and according to the forms prescribed by law. Any one soliciting, transmitting, executing, or causing to be executed, any arbitrary order, shall be punished. But any citizen summoned or arrested in virtue of the law shall submit without delay, as resistance constitutes an offense.
These and many fundamental ideology we share with Libyan Democratic Party, including our borders with Libya and our culture.
Egypt Unity Democratic Party encourages all Libyans to rally behind Libya’s Democratic Party forever lasting peace and justice for Libya and the Arab World.
We admire the founder Ahmed Shebani’s ideology and wishes the Party many success in the following weeks, month and many years to come.

A Solution to End Iraqi Civil War

Iraq was a stable country, until the Baath Party collapse. The conflict has divided the country on religious affiliation. A war that will not benefit Iraq or the Arab World.
A conflict between the Sunni and Shia Muslims have been a conflict not much of who’s right and wrong, but a conflict of control of Iraq.
The Recommendation of the Egypt Unity Democratic Party for Iraq is to form an Interfaith Committee, include Shia and Sunni Muslims, Orthodox and Catholic Christians Religious Leaders. This meeting should also include the Iraqi government and Iranian Shia Leaders.
The point of this Interfaith Committee is set a common ground on religious understanding and the common good that each share for society and promote Arab Nationalism.
Second, To form a Constitution based on Confessional Democracy (Republic) such as Lebanon

·         Thus the President must be a Shia Muslim
·         The Prime Minister must be a Sunni Muslim
·         A  Minister must be an Orthodox Christian
·         The Speaker of the House must be a Catholic Christian
·
The Interfaith Committee, Arab Nationalism and a Constitution based on Confessional Democracy (Republic) such as Lebanon will be an ideology that will end the conflict of all conflicts.

Al Nour Party Suppress Religious Minority

Al Nour Party Candidates

Al Nour Party (light) is also known as Salafi; instead it should be called the Dark Age Party. There is no light in the ideology of this party.
This Party denies a Coptic to run for President.
Here is an article in Bikyamasr.
Egypt’s al-Nour Salafists say no to Coptic president
Manar Ammar | 3 January 2012
CAIRO: Egypt’s al-Nour ultra-conservative political party announced that a Coptic Christian cannot become president of Egypt and that Egyptian society “will not accept a Christian president.”
The puritan party’s spokesman wrote a statement published on the party’s website aiming to clear the controversy after Egypt’s al-Akhbar state-run newspaper published an interview with spokesman Mohamed Nour on December 31 in which he said that “the Egyptian society is not fit to accept a Coptic president.”
The spokesman said that after going back to the leaders in the party it was agreed on that Egypt “will not accept a Christian president.”
The Islamic political party was founded after the Egyptian uprising of January 2011 and has come in second place in the country’s first parliamentary elections following the revolution.
“We see that the interpretation of the second band in the Egyptian Constitution which states Islam as the ‘official religion’ of the country, which automatically states that the president be a Muslim,” read the statement.
“The party will make sure that the next Constitution directly states that,” the party’s website said.
The statement added that many European countries with ancient democratic practices specifies the religion, and even the sect of the president, such as Greece and Spain and the “unwritten Constitution of the UK.”
The spokesman also said the party doesn’t accept, under any circumstances, a civil state and wants a religious state built on Sharia, or Islamic law, as it is explained by scholars.
“The Salafist movement completely refuses the notion of a civil or secular state and we want a state built on Islamic principals,” said the spokesman.
This proves that the Al Nour Party does not recognize the Coptic minority as equal citizen. They confiscated the Copts of this fundamental right for being a non-Muslim.
Al Nour Party leaders refused an invitation from Pope Shenouda III for the Christmas Mass, They stated that “Muslims should not congratulate a Christian in any feasts. “
In Quen, Egypt. The Salafi protested for days for a Coptic Governor to step down, for he is a Christian and he is forbidding governing Muslims. Also they have blocked all railroad access to Quen.
During the Maspero Massacre that occurred in October 2011, which resulted in 27 Copts killed. Witness stated that the Salafi block the Copts escape route with swords.
Not to mention the numerous churches, homes, business burned and blood shear of innocent people.
The Al Nour Party is Saudi Arabia led style of Justice and restriction to individual freedom. This party should be banned and labeled as terrorist party that poses a threat to Egypt and the Arab world. Like Iran, they will try to spear hate and revolution.
